Provenance: This artwork was part of a seasoned art dealer’s personal collection. By trade this art dealer was a teacher, but in the 1970s he started collecting and selling art as a supplement income. This turned into a successful business, and he traveled the globe internationally with his son sourcing original artworks by famous modern and post-war artists, as well as Asian and African artifacts. The art dealer is now retired and lives outside of Detroit, Michigan.Francois Boucher (1703-1770) was a French painter, draughtsman, and etcher, who worked in the Rococo style. Boucher is known for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories, and pastoral scenes. He was perhaps the most celebrated painter and decorative artist of the 18th century. His art is in the permanent collection of several prestigious institutions including The MET, National Gallery of London, and the Museum of Fine Art Boston to name a few.
