Item Details
Description
First quarter 19th century, cherry with pine secondary. Attributed to Connecticut River Valley. Serpentine front, three dovetailed drawers over three doors, all with applied beaded edges and tapered legs. Line, banded and bellflower inlays. Refinished with some wear and age splits. 38"h. 60.25"w. 22.5"d.
Condition
Top is two board with a very tight, faint seam, no warp. Old split out at back edge of top and there is a 1/4" area of the back board showing under the back right corner of the top (the top is not flush with the backboard) but the measurements of the lid match on both ends. Odd shrinkage? Brasses are original.
Edge wear and some loss, including loss and splits to beading and veneer especially around doors and drawers. Some pieced repairs including near lock at left door. Top has indented scratches (really only show when light hits it sideways). Some overall all edge wear and nicks, surface wear on left side. Age splits in bottom doors have some putty fill. Two board sides have shrinkage and age splits.
. The center and left doors are locked and we do not have a key.
