WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA FOLK ART FRAKTUR BIRTH AND BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE, watercolor and ink on paper, large format exhibiting unusual design elements, including spread-winged eagle and full-figure angels flanking inscription for Ester Miller, born September 7, 1817 in Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania, signed "Georg Burger" lower right of central inscription, probably for George Gottfried Ephraim Burger (1790-1861). Archivally mounted in a modern frame. Dated 1817. 15 1/2" x 12 1/2" object, 18" x 15" OA.
Condition
Good overall visual condition. Professionally conserved with moderate toning and discoloration, slightly heavier to areas. Restoration to fold lines, tears, and edges, including losses. Entire upper left corner restored. Not examined out of frame.
