John Clymer (b.1932) British Impressionist Painter
Item Details
Description
This is a beautiful painting by the UK artist John Clymer (b. 1932). This impressionist landscape is a shack near a lake or river with a figure appearing to be walking away, opposite shore is tree lined and cloudy blue sky. Signed in the lower right corner. Measures 28" x 40".

In researching, I found a nearly identical painting by artist Alfred Sisley (1839-1899), Paris born British National impressionist painter. The painting, done in 1875, is called "Laundry Houses at Bougival".

Both artists are/were impressionist painters. Clymer studied at the Royal Academy and I can't help but wonder if this painting was one of his school paintings projects, and he was drawn to the style of Sisley.

The last photo was borrowed from the Alfred Sisley: The Complete Works website. We do not own this painting.
