MATT JONES SLIP DECORATED SALT GLAZE BOTTLE BUNCOMBE CO NC
Item Details
Description
Potter Matt Jones, living with his wife Christine and family for the past 2+ decades in Leicester, NC (a small town in Buncombe Co about 30 min west of Asheville), has developed quite the impressive potting operation. During the past 10-12 years he added slip trail decoration to his repertoire. He creates about 10 face jugs per yearand began discussing the story of face jugs online many years ago. His salt glaze in reality has some glass magically blended in. He employs glass with this fantastic water-powered glass crusher he built to harness the power of a stream on his property. This is mixed with sand in a never ending hole to produce the powdered ingredients that he touches his glaze with. This is floral motif that he adds to the salt glaze and is very eye-appealing. Signed on base. Stands 9.75" tall.
