Item Details

Description

Victorian Embroidered Tapestry Dragons Fireplace Screen. This large fireplace screen has an embroidered needlepoint center featuring, appropriately enough, a dragon motif. The dragons are floriated and combined with what look like bird or griffin heads. Contrasted over a dark black background, the designs pair nicely with the whitewashed and gilt painted finish of the ornately carved frame. Place these dragons in defense of anything you want to screen - fire-related or otherwise.

Dimensions are 40 in h x 24.5 in w x 13.5 in d. Condition is fair, consistent with age, with wear to wood and paint and back protective layer torn. Embroidery is intact and vivid. Please call or email for a detailed condition report.
