Description
Presentation gold top Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) cane. Knob of cane presents fine inscription "Presented to Post-Commander Henry A. Phillips by Geo. C. Strong Post 534, GAR, May 13th, 86". Post 534 of the GAR was located in Brooklyn, New York and would meet in Arlington Hall and the corners of Gates Avenue and Nostrand Avenue. The post was chartered on January 10, 1885. Cane measures 35" in length and presents a 1.75" gold top. Provenance: Charles Lekites Collection.
