Salvador Dali (Spanish/French, 1904 - 1989), 'Lilium aurancacium et labra basrocantis' - Tiger Lilies of the Theater, 16.5” x 23” Plate Size, 21.75" x 29.5" Paper Size, Lithograph etching with heliogravure in color on Paper, Artist Proof, hand signed and numbered by Dali.

Salvador Dali was born May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Spain. From an early age Dali was encouraged to practice his art and would eventually go on to study at an academy in Madrid. In the 1920's Dali went to Paris and began interacting with Picasso, Magritte, and Miro leading to his first Surrealist phase. The rise of the fascist leader Franco in Spain led to Dali's expulsion from the Surrealist movement, but that did not prevent him from painting. This is a limited edition artist proof lithograph numbered EA on the lower left and signed in pencil on the lower right. Numbered EA (Epreuve d’artist/Artist Proof), Edition Size 350, 75 EA. Published by Editions Graphiques International in 1972. From the Series Surrealist Flowers (15 pieces).
