Hill Co., 1900. 4to, original publisher's cloth. 16 plates (of 24), text complete. **************** First edition, second issue; publisher's ads are without a box; page 14 reads "low wail of"; page 81, "pieces"; page 227, "While The Woodman"; and the colophon has no box. A well-used and tired copy of this very rare important classic. * Provenance: Front endpaper with early ownership signature of Betty Brock, dated 1904.
Condition
Spine portion pulled and torn, cloth faded and with fraying/loss to edges and corners, one plate chipped with slight loss and several with closed tears, numerous leaves are detached and some with marginal chips or tears, boards holding by mull only (gutters exposed), sold as-is with all faults not subject to return for any reason.
