Description
Signed Silas Hoadley, Plymouth, (Connecticut), wooden works, grain-painted body with green sponge-painted long door and clock face door, painted Roman numerals on wood with additional hands and dials of seconds and calendar date (1-31) within circle border, painted with his trademark Masonic emblem decoration on clock face, 84 1/2"H x 17 3/4" W x 10" D. Note: Hoadley was a Free Mason of high standing and one of the most respected and oldest members of Harmony lodge, No. 42 F. and A. M. having been intimately associated with the lodge in Watertown, Connecticut in 1817. He was elected to the Connecticut State Senate in 1844. Condition - untested, repair to one of the scrolled pediments where it had been broken and glued, replaced knob.
