Description
The Chinese white jade carved into a shape of tall urn, of tapered baluster shape, faceted shoulder supported the prominent oval neck flanked with archaic dragon suspending free rings, beneath the domed lid and faceted finial. Array of tropical leaves banded on the shoulder. Two roosters standing on both side, with spreading wings unto the central body. Elegantly presented upon a carved hardwood stand. The Jade show clean white color, finely polished, with hints of russet inclusions. The rooster or cock is one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac.
In Chinese symbols, Roosters are believed to be able to scare away demons.
The Chinese for rooster (gongji) is pronounced the same as "lucky" or "auspicious" (ji).
A crowing rooster (gong Ming) sounds like saying "merit and fame" (gong Ming).
A charm using the rooster to symbolize "lucky" and "merit and fame"
