Description
A Cypriot Style terracotta horse figure, H: 9 in (23.1cm), L: 7 1/3 in (18.6cm). The original resides in storage at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in Philadelphia with the description 'horse as type 36, but large, for rider; studded halter with central strap down nose; double reins; breast band with indentations; fringed saddle cloth)." Solid, handmade. Horse and rider, rider missing'. It was excavated in Kourion at the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates during the Cyprus Expedition of George H. McFadden. Collection number written on the horse's belly.
