Description
Pristine Chinese Wucai Porcelain brush handle, with intricate artistry. Brush handle decorated with vivid WuCai, the five-color design. Enamel has an opaque quality, with a variegated mixture of hues throughout the imagery. Along the shaft, a red five-claws dragon is depicted amidst flames and clouds against a white background. Iron-red interlocking swastika pattern is wrapped around the handles neck. At the precipice of the neck is a domed top, with repeating blue decoration.

Mark under the top rim, a six underglaze blue script -KaiShu- characters, Made in The Years of WanLi Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty (1563-1620).
Dimensions: 6-3/4" H x 2-1/2" Dia.
PROVENANCE: From the estate and inheritance of Cecil Knight Jr. (1933- 2017).
He was gifted these items from his parents who had lived abroad in the late 1800s.
