Description
Magnificent Chinese Ming Dynasty period Wucai Porcelain pen handle. Brush handle decorated with vivid hues of blue, red, and green. Enamel has an opaque quality, with a variegated mixture patterns covering the smooth surface. Ming-blue and iron-red carp glide through the algae, encircling one another. Iron-red interlocking swastika pattern is wrapped around the handles neck. At the precipice of the neck is a domed top, with blue Kai-Shu script characters encircling the domes diameter.

Mark on top handle, a six underglaze blue script -KaiShu- characters, Made in The Years of JiaJing Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty (1507-1567).
Dimensions: 7-5/8" H x 2-3/8" Dia.
PROVENANCE: From the estate and inheritance of Cecil Knight Jr. (1933- 2017).
He was gifted these items from his parents who had lived abroad in the late 1800s.
