Description
Large, yellow ground silk panel embroidered with a 5-clawed dragon from the 18th century. The dragon is in a central medallion and is curving around a flaming pearl. The dragon is surrounded by Buddhist emblems, clouds, flowers, and bats. The silk threads are gold, blue, white, and red. The embroidery has two silk borders. It is framed and matted.
Dimensions are: 27 inches tall X 34 inches wide. The frame is 38 inches tall X 45 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: It has some water damage or staining and mild age wear, but is in overall good condition.
Provenance: From a Houston, Texas collector. Collector was an executive at a major oil company and was based in Singapore and Hong Kong from the 1970s to early 1980s.
