DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION NORTH CAROLINA BADGE WITH 14K YELLOW GOLD AND GILT-METAL PINS, owned by D.A.R. former member Ruth Hyder Starnes Barber (b.1899-d.1986) of the Rutherford County Chapter of North Carolina, comprising a blue and white ribbon decorated with eight pins marked "14K", one tested as 14K, and five gold-filled or gold-toned pins, most with marks for J.E. Caldwell & Co., engraved names on bar pins consisting Valentine Mauney, Thomas Hoover, John Killian Sr., Benjamin Hider, Barbara Warlick, Bostian Cline, and William Post, most were from Lincoln Co., NC, badge includes a soft presentation case. Total weight including ribbon and three gold-filled/gilt-metal bar pins and excluding two non-gold pins: 49.9 grams. Mid/third quarter 20th century. 12 1/2" LOA.
Fine overall condition with expected wear, some small spots of discoloration on ribbon, some minor oxidation on non-gold metal pieces, most pins are sewn into the ribbon.
