GEORGIAN CARVED AND PARCEL-GILT MAHOGANY LOOKING GLASS, in the Chippendale style and of impressive size, beveled mirror plate within scalloped frame flanked by floral / foliate devices, broken-arch pediment centering a Rococo finial. Fourth quarter 18th century. 55 1/2" HOA, 28 1/2" WOA.
Very good overall condition with scattered minor surface wear, breaks, and small losses, old minor cracks and repairs to pediment, three pieces of molding detached but present.
Provenance: From the private collection of Henley and the late Mary Carter, Staunton, Virginia.
