Description
PROVENANCE:

From the Collections of Henry Windermere (1932- 2018) Covington, Georgia, served US Army for more than 28 years, retiring as a colonel. His received many military medals. He then became Westminster Services training coordinator and working as a program director for a defense contractor based in Xianggang China. Among his varied interests and passions were collecting Chinese art pieces.

Dimensions (cm): Length: 18 Width: 8.5 Height: 23 Weight (gram): 3850

Chinese Qing Dynasty Period Gilt Bronze Buddha Sipai Gyalmo Riding a Bird. This statue of Buddha seated above huge bird, with on leg crossing and one leg dropping to a bird. The Buddha has angry faces, with glaring eyes and bare teeth, flaming hair, which make him very stately. The left arms lifted lean back to knee, the right hand bring vajra in front the chest. Supported with single lotus position on a double lotus throne. The production of the whole sculpture is regular, solemn and dignified. The shape is round which has typical characteristics of gilt bronze furnace.
Condition
Over all in EXCELLENT condition. With normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dents. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. Normal, consider ages and wear.
